In UK, the Defence Dept. does some fun stuff with these radomes - Radar Site Gets In Festive Mood
Second photo (taken from the front of our house) is the year's brightest pairing with Venus and Jupiter 2 degrees apart and a young moon close by. See Dream with the Fishes blog for more on this.
The 1st of every month is City Daily Photo Theme Day - Click here to view thumbnails for all participants for December.

Oh, that shot of the moon and planets... simply perfect!
I think that the perspective of the picture with the sphere on the background make this bigger.
Excellent photos for theme day! A breathtaking shot of the 2 planets and moon. We have rain and clouds here...lots of mists and fogs so will not be able to see this wonderful sight. Thanks for taking this gorgeous photo!
Great shots! Like them both very much. Both are other-wordly like my post today!
Great choices for today theme! The 2nd photo is beautiful and the composition on the 1st is very cool!
I love your photos today. The link was great too (I didn't know they did that!)
Especially that shot of the moon is beyond words. Magnificent!!
that first one scares me (in a good way) - like a bad moon rising. Thanks for balancing it with the good moon in the next shot. Excellent choices for theme day.
I love both photos. Sometimes just the implication of a sphere is all it takes. The night sky is really pretty. Beautifully done. Happy Theme Day.
I took a similar sky shot last night from atop the hills of Claremont (on another of my cross town flights of envy). I too had stars in my photo but I thought it was dust on the lens. Going to the link now...
I've been to the link and am returning to tell you ...fanastic! Have you seen the light show?
Congatulations on this shot, fantastic! I really wanted to get this shot, but ever looming cloud cover ruined my chances.
The link to the Northumbrian radomes was fascinating.
I'd forgotten about the coming together of the planets - alas we have snow clouds in the sky so no chance of my seeing them.
What?! The Stockholm Globe Arenas on vacation in Los Angeles?!
Stockholm by pixels
la deuxième photo est très belle, mais la première est intrigante et surprenante.
the second photograph is very nice, but the first one is scheming and amazing.
The dome looks a bit threatening there, sort of like Rover in The Prisoner TV show.
That dome is huge! Probably the largest entry today.
Great photos Tash and I absolutely love that moon shot!
How lovely is that moon and the two planets. Made me stop in my tracks the past two nights. Glad you captured it.
Both shots are wonderful but that one of the moon and the two planets is spectacular! Two great choices for Theme Day. Fabulous.
I was wondering what that gigantic pingpong ball was! Cool! And I love your night sky photo — gorgeous!
I'm a little late, but happy theme day!
Oh, I've been trying to capture the Venus, Jupiter and Moon trio, and your photo is so fabulous....it's the one that's been eluding me!
Great pic of the Moon and planets.
I have been posting pics as the planets move together, but the last few days have been cloudy(rats).
My brother used to live in Palos Verdes but since he retired from Boeing,Huntington beach, he now lives in Palm Springs.
I find it very satisfying to view photos of the same scene (the year's brightest pairing with Venus and Jupiter) from around the world. Sort of brings us all closer.
Those two pictures are really fascinating... the dome is like a space ship and it matches perfectly with the picture of the ...utter space!
Your moon shot is just beautiful.
Excellent choice and tie in to the theme.
Oh, now that is really well done. You could create a diptych out of those two! Wonderful!
Belated greetings, from Nelson. Thanks for visit and comment!
It's not spying the emails and communications, is it? I love the image.
