La Peñita (Hermosa Beach, CA)

My night photo class (this week at Manhattan Beach pier) was cancelled on Monday due to stromy weather.
I took a few photos of South Bay beach towns on the drive back home.

The only fun thing about the chore is the chance to revisit pretty views.

Close... (SkyWatch Friday)

Sunset at The Getty, Los Angeles (5 Feb 2012)
... it's not really a bird, and it's not really in paradise, but I'd call it close.

A-MAZE-ing Coloring (at The Getty)

I spotted the lovely new blooms in the Getty gardens just at closing time.
I think this view deserves to be re-visited very soon.

Admiral Risty's Re-visited (SkyWatch Friday)

ADMIRAL RISTY, Golden Cove Center, Rancho Palos Verdes

Admiral Risty is a local steak-seafood restaurant located on the edge of the continent (dramatic, ha?).
I first went there with my Dad while still in college and when I had no idea I would move to Palos Verdes in the future. My husband, son and I still go there often for special (and ordinary) occasions.

Did you say it was a "Groundhog Day"?

"Here is to Groundhog Horse Day!"

"That feels most excellent!"

"... yes, yes, just there!"
"Whaaaat???? Well, you weren't jumping in to scratch my back!"
OK, enough horsing around.
Groundhog Day is also the birthday of Bibi (Yankee in Belgrade). Please join me in sending happy birthday wishes her way.

CDP Theme Day: Animals

Horses, Rolling Hills Estates (1 February 2012)

The animal most associated with Palos Verdes is -- the horse (of course). I drive by this corral every morning and took the time to greet this lovely pair today.
For very interesting information about RHE and terrific old photos (with lots of horses in them), see Maureen Megowan -- History of Rolling Hills Estates.

Click here to view thumbnails for all City Daily Photo bloggers who participate in this theme day (which occurs on the first day of each month.
