Miss me?

Come meet us at the beach!
In Rancho Palos Verdes, CA
Public access from old Ocean Trails GC (now Trump National GC).

Dear blogger friends,
I'm taking a summer break and will probably be back in September. I do miss you all.
Love, Tash

Guess Who Came for a Visit?

Amy of Palos Verdes, CA and Bibi of Belgrade, Serbia enjoying the PV coastline
I finally got a change to meet my long time blogger friend "Bibi" of Yankee in Belgrade Daily Photo and of course the real Bibi. They are driving down the coast from Seattle and "Bibi" was so nice to come all the way down to PV to visit us. "Bibi" remembers the beaches and cliffs of Palos Verdes from her high school years, and it's fun to reminisce about how PV used to be.

"Won't you let us inside?"

Amy, Whiskers & Smokey (or Amy, Smokey & Whiskers) waiting impatiently for the door to open after everyone took a walk.

"Oh, you ARE back..."

Our cat Smokey, welcoming me back from the trip to England. I traded a week of rain in Southern California, for a week of sunshine in Southern England!

Anticipation ...

At Crystalaire

White on white - my son is flying solo in the Puchacz, a versitile Polish two-seater sailplane.
Glider pilots and instructors from the Southern California Soaring Academy, Llano, CA.
Amy with a new friend, AD.
(AD showed up at the field one day, looking very scrawny, and with a hurt leg, probably from a fight with a coyote. He's found a good home and is looking really well.)

Morning Walk Companion (Monochrome Monday)

Smokey, January 2010

Our cats are great companions during walks with Amy, our golden retriever. And we all plan on walking lots more this year.

"I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" ...

... "just like the ones I used to know, where the car-tops glisten???" - not quite what I had in mind but the busy Peninsula Center parking lot does look festive to me.
However, for a real Winter Wonderland treat, head East to Antjas' Sudbury Daily Photo.
Back in the neighborhood, Amy encountered an uncertain doorman.

Happy Thanksgiving...

... from next to my favorite doorway. (The thriving roses and the happy dog are thanks to the care given by my dear husband.)

'N' is for Napping (abc Wednesday)

See more 'N's at Mrs. Nesbitt's abc Wednesday.

'O' is for 'Oops!' I just realized I'm a week behind on the abc Wednesday. Oh, well...

'G' is for Girl (abc Wednesday)

I had a chance to spent a day with my new friend from Switzerland. She did a good job teaching me many new words in German. She loved our cats and contrary to his look, Whiskers liked the attention.

Lake Mary and Mammoth Mountain

Lake Mary is a really pretty Alpine lake with a view of the back side of Mammoth Mountain - fun for boating, fishing both by the shore and on the lake, and for a game of swim & fetch (for our dog).
Anticipation.

"Amy's World"

Amy & I took a walk mid-morning today along the lower section of the upper Pt. Vicente Park (just above PV Drive West).
Today was the open house day at the lighthouse. More photos of that to follow.
I'll be away for a few days, and will be autoposting. Enjoy your Sunday.

Trails in Palos Verdes (SkyWatch Friday)

One of the benefits of being a blogger is that it makes me eager to explore areas of the peninsula I have not seen before. To find these, we bought (at a local gas station of all places) a really well done trail guide The Outdoor Guide to the PV Peninsula by Brad & Kristine Denton. This photo is from the Malaga Dunes Trails (the ancient dunes are now a big hill) at the western end of PV Country Club, looking toward the Valmonte neighborhood in the first photo and of Amy, our Golden, looking longingly toward the green grass of the golf course.
For a view of skies from all over the world, visit SKYLEY.

A and Mooch

This is my friend A and her kitty Mooch. A and I have been friends since 7th grade. Yesterday, she came to our rescue by taking our wheezing cat Smokey to the vet.
Update: It turns out that Smokey has asthma - he got some pills and seems to be doing fine today.

Misty days (with pets)

It's the worst of "June gloom" as today is the 2nd day of complete mist in PV. It would be a good time to have snuggle up next to a fire and read a book. But, in May, the local markets do not carry fire wood and the animals want to be outside.Single minded Smokey on the balcony.
Amy, the interpid squirrel tracker, is on alert in any weather.
