Miss South Bay to Others...

... Miss World to us. My friend's daughter is as beautiful on the inside as on the outside.

Missoni Miss

Missoni never looked as good as on my friend's darling grand-daughter. Photo credit goes to my friend too.
(I don't know if you've heard of the Missoni for Target which came out in September and sold out almost immediately. I was able to find this jumper which found the perfect owner.)

Mystery Photographer at the Getty Center, LA

... or guess who came for a visit to LA?
For the answer, click on Birmingham (Alabama) Daily Photo.
A group of California bloggers had such a wonderful time exploring LA with Virginia and her host Judy.

Fun before the summer ends...

Last Sunday, we headed off for an annual day trip to Catalina Island. It's a good way to end the summer. Jet skiing was the favorite activity for the younger set. And today, it's back-to-school time in Palos Verdes.

A Day at LACMA (Weekend Reflections)

Cracked Egg (Red), 1994-2000, by Jeff Koons (BCAM at LACMA)
Broad Contemporary Art Museum has such a whimsical collection ... my friend L. and I had so much fun looking at the art and our reflections.

You Better Watch Out...

... Santa Claus is coming to town... A darling Christmas stocking knit by my co-worker for her youngest baby grand-daughter's 1st Christmas.

Thank you to Brattcat at Brattleboro Daily Photo for the post idea.

Import/Export (PVDP on Vacation)

On Ivo Zaninovic street in Šibenik, Croatia
Not much of a photo, but it's full of symbolism. N. (our travelling companion and my close friend's daughter), was born in Croatia and came to California when she was 5 months old (export/import). We have a red Jeep Cherokee just like the one in the photo (import/export), and N. owns a white one... My son and I came to see the street that has my surname - my father's paternal relatives were all from this neighborhood.
On Sept. 7th, I will have been a US import for 40 years. I feel I have the best of both worlds.

The Narrow Streets of Rovinj, Croatia

From the narrow streets of Rovinj, which was once an island, there were steps leading down to the water where the goods were delivered to the storerooms in the basements of the buildings

My pretty young friend Daria by the shop located in the old storeroom.

'X' is for eXit (abc Wednesday)

Today is my boss' last day at work upon his retirement after 42 years with the company. He leaves a legacy on the C-17 program, of an exemplary structural engineer and an outstanding technical leader and director.

Greetings from Palos Verdes

View of RAT (Right After Torrance) beach, Christmas Day 2009.
My friend L. had family & friends gathering on Christmas Eve, for an excellent American-Croatian-Mexican-Colombian-Chinese feast.

'Q' is for Quiet Beauty

My ginger plant, started from a root cutting given to me by a friend at work, bloomed unexpectedly last week. The deal is that I am now to give cuttings to 3 friends and pass on the serene beauty.

The Knack for Decorating

I don't have the talent for decorating, but my friend L. certainly does. This is a detail of the dining room in her house in San Pedro, in the southeastern foothills of Palos Verdes peninsula.

The green alcove housed an indoor BBQ when she moved in last January.

'G' is for Girl (abc Wednesday)

I had a chance to spent a day with my new friend from Switzerland. She did a good job teaching me many new words in German. She loved our cats and contrary to his look, Whiskers liked the attention.

Rocky Cove (2)

Finding sea critters was easy for A. to the amazement of two older boys.
