Chevron Station, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA

One of my favorite artists (whom I recently discovered thru the artist and blogger at PasadenaAdjacent) is Edward Ruscha. He painted Standard Stations in the early '60s and also produced a book of B&W photographs «Twentysix Gasoline Stations» with one-line references stating the stations’ name and location. I also like that the "Chevron Corporation was originally known as Standard Oil of California, or SoCal, and was formed amid the antitrust breakup of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil company in 1911." [Wikipedia article]

If you are old enough, do you remember ESSO, SOHIO, SOCNJ (EXXON), SOCONY (MOBIL), STD OIL of INDIANA( AMOCO). One amazing company. I have seen Ruscha's work and appreciate it, also.

You must have stayed up late to take this! Super night shot, Tash.

Are you planning to do a photo book on Chevron stations? I think that's a fabulous idea.

Bright lights at the gas station, fun to photo-shoot.

I always enjoy a bit of California history/trivia. Your photography is great - you make a gas station look interesting.

History...not trivia FA. Thought of Ed the moment I saw the photo. I missed the shout out. I've been very busy

I think that is the nicest looking gas station I've ever seen! Interesting tidbit of info at the end of your post too.
