Station Fire Smoke Cloud over Llano, CA

Crystalaire Airport, on the north side of the San Gabriel Mts at 2:30 pm, on Saturday 9-5-09, looking east. The smoke cloud, moved in over the airport at about 11:00 am, and the soaring had to be cancelled for the rest of the day. Ron, who's been soaring here off and on for 40 years, said this was the first time they had to shut down due to smoke.

This is the same airport looking West. The sun was actually an orange ball which I could not replicate in the photo.

Your amazing photos say it all.
I pray that soon your skies will be clear and blue again and that the ash will stop falling like rain.
Tash, I thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment...not many people are familiar with scenic Ojai and, as you know, Ojai too has had its close encounters with raging California brush fires. My prayers go out to all the brave men and women firefighters, may their hazardous task soon be over.

Almost surreal, but beautiful in its own tragic way.

The fires burning up in that directions by way of Devils canyon. I've been to the ridge looking down on Llano but your right. It's impossible to replicate what this is and what it means.

Disturbing but the colors are startling. I don't know why but the plane makes the shot seem even more ominous.
