Lighthouse with Palms - Pt. Vicente

It must be time for another view of the Pt. Vicente Lighthouse.
"Today Point Vicence Light still sends out its beacon across the Catalina Channel. Electronic sensors and automated controls have replaced the lighthouse keeper and activate the fog horn. Far from abandoned, the housing facility is home to regular Coast Guard personnel assigned to nearby ships, stations and offices. The former radio center is now manned by volunteer civilian members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary who are responsible for the lighthouse in addition to tracking distress calls from boaters in the Catalina Channel. The radio center also tracks Auxiliary aircraft patrolling offshore waters on weekends."

The pic came out very well, nT.
I know this lighthouse well.
Thanks for the insider info on its use now.

Beautiful view of this lovely spot. I like the idea of the changing use for the lighthouse itself, one more reason to keep it in good condition.

Oh, poo on the electronic sensors and automated controls! I can understand ticket-taking machines in the subway, because there are so many people, but gosh, lighthouse keepers should still be around.

Would love to tickle my tootsies on that lovely grass.

I do love going out to Pt. Vicente lighthouse. I've taken a few awesome photos from the catwalk of the lighthouse. One of those photos has been used as a postcard.
