The recycling center on Crenshaw Blvd. sorts lots of paper and plastic. It is adjacent to an old landfill that's being converted for future use as a "green space" and is across from Botanical Garden that is already on a former landfill site.
From the 1964
Day Tours book:
"An abandoned quarry is used for a dump, euphemistically called a land-fill, for it will be turned into a park when filled."

Great minds think alike, though I think you've got the better photos :)
It was very nice meeting you today, even if it was brief :)
I really enjoyed it.
Nice job with the two things. Excellent, in fact.
Good to see you today, then not good to lose you immediately. Hope you enjoyed the Doo Dah Parade and got better pictures than I did.
Both lovely, but number two is a little cracker with the day moon.
When I was growing up there was a landfill across the LA River from us in Compton. It later became the location for a new high school that I had the pleasure to attend for one year. Wayne and I have been in Pomona this week packing the items we want to take north to Bellingham and Powell River. We sold our condo of 25 years and are amazed at all we had collected over time. We feel bad about all of it going to the "landfill" so have been trying to give away as much as we can. Still there have been two large loads of things that have to be dealt with. Maybe now that we have downsized we can keep our footprint smaller. - Margy
Ha! I work across the street at RHCDS.

The second snap is simply awesome...The reason is that the way you have taken it...A beautiful angle...
Great idea for this challenge!
