Lifeguard station (or tower) at Redondo Beach looking toward Palos Verdes Peninsula, 19 June 2010
All 158 L.A. County lifeguard stations (usually a pale blue color), from Palos Verdes to Zuma Beach (of Neil Young fame), have been transformed for the "Summer of Color" community art awareness project. They really look festive. In the fall, each will be painted the solid color of the railing.
I'm considering photographing all 158 of them...we'll see...
See lots more "W" posts on abc Wednesday.

I like the bright colors; better, I think, than the plain white ones.
This would be a fun and satisfying project, I think, to capture them all.
That's the kind of vacation we Minnesotans dream of particularly in January and February!
Gorgeous beach and I do love that colorful watchtower! What a great shot for the W day!! Hope your week is going well, Tash! Enjoy!

Thank the Lord for Life Guards watching the beaches. Hope I never have to be rescued.
We dont see many lifeguards around our part of the world!
I like that idea!
Isn't it nice to see art brushed onto the tower instead of graffiti or advertising. Hope you post more pics.
Good luck with that, Tash! It would be fun to see.
yes yes yes (maybe from the same angle) some way of creating a cohesiveness between them
Oh, I hope you do! PA's idea is an interesting one, too! They would be fun to see (and count).

That would be a VERY ambitious project! Wishing you well!!
what a colourful tower. It's doesn't look very high.
Sunny beautiful day!
I like so much this composition!

How fun!!! I vote for them leaving the psychedelic colors!!!
It is so reassuring somehow to see my old "home beach" looking the way it always did--except for the lifeguard station, of course. I wish they looked that way when I lived there!
That would be quite a project to photograph all 158 lifeguard stations. I've been to Zuma beach. We had a chance meeting with a NASA scientist who got us an introduction to see round JPL, which was an amazing experience.
