"U" is for Unnecessary (abc Wednesday) ... (Copyright Image of Palos Verdes Daily Photo)
The proposed project for an educational and animal adoption site is located next to the Interpretive Center (or the Whale Watching Station). Last night, at my book club meeting, we were all opposed to putting such a large structure here.
The soundtrack in my head just started playing,"The hills are alive with the sound of diggers, the song that's been sung all along the coast. . ." At least it looks like there is a lot of open/public space, and the layout seem attractive. I can't really see the structures. Hope it turns out better than anticipated. GREAT photo! Love that blue sky. -Kim
It is interesting that Annenberg is involved in this, given their links to unrepentant terrorist William Ayers and a certain Chicago politician now residing in Washington... «Louis» suspects that the group opposing this project might be more justified in doing so than perhaps they realize...
In Toruń we have very similar problem. Authorities know better "what is the best for citizens". Across our area big road must be run... . Out of mind, against people will, against nature. The very last three weeks of my photo activity is dedicated to "Our Ponds". - They must be buried. "In 20% only". We inhabitants of this area do not agree. My role is to make photo and publish them. It is in Polish only, but photos are understandably for person of any language... . - Just drop to my blog and look birds, flowers and beauty of nearby nature.
I like the Annenberg's. They've been a friend to art and animals. And the fellow who coined the term "getting it cheap is part of the esthetic" was a member of that terrorist group (or was it the weathermen)
I just would like to see something like this be built further inland. PV is a rarity in that it still has undeveloped ocean front I was also under the impression that the land is unstable

Yes, it does look big, but as Kim said, it seems to have a lot of open space and is fairly 'attractive'---not as much as real open spaces though.

I agree with you.
Seems like we've all got a similar fight. Good luck!
Let us know how it turns out.
What a shame! Will anyone be able to stop the "progress?"
I am too part of a bookclub, do you enjoy it?
Can't they find an old structure somewhere...
So they're going to improve on natural beauty? What Southern Californian would ever think of doing such a thing.

Can you adopt crocodiles there?
Good luck! The sight of undeveloped land seems to bring out the money hunger.
I've enjoyed exploring the "ABCs" of your site. You have some really nice images.
"Progress" is so subjective. As Paul Simon once said, "One man's ceiling is another man's floor."
