'C' is for Country Squire

Country Squire "Woodie" at Peninsula Center - January 2010

A beautiful vintage (1950, I think) Ford "Woodie" Station Wagon, with real WOOD. A quick look on the Net, revealed that a "Woodie" in this mint condition is worth over $130,000. Now my look is as surprised as that of the dirver.

Wow, what a beaut! Wonderful that you caught this, Tash. Those stickers in the window take me back to those cross country road trips where families would get a sticker for monuments and special attractions they'd visited along the way.

Oh, yeah, a woodie! Oh, those surfin' days... This driver perhaps was 'hanging ten' back in the sixties.

Looks like this one's got a back seat and a rear window.

Oh wow, you can tell there was a lot of love put into that baby ! Haven't seen a Woodie in ages and ages, but this one is a real beaut.
Thanks for a great photo and a trip down memory lane.

What a beautiful car! Although I have to say it would have been even better if it were bright pink (every car would look better if it were bright pink).

I used to love those old 'timber-looking' vehicles.

I just had to look at his window stickers, hoping for a surfing sticker or Ocean Beach or board wax...

The car - and driver - are a total kick. Thank you!

Omigod, Tash...a genuine vintage surfer wagon! I'm old enough to remember when those were not an uncommon sight at the beach. But what really makes me feel OLD isn't the Woodie. It's that $130,000 price tag!

Stunner! I can feel the sand on the leather seat, see the marks left from the boards piled in the back and the smell of the wood. Oh and a Doors tune playing faintly from the radio...

Lovely all-around evocative post.
Ciao!

What a fabulous find, Tash. I'll bet he travels with protection.

Ah, what a beaut, alright! Think you have the vintage right, Tash. Had a '5o convertible back in the day.

We had 'woodies' over here - in fact we owned one once, a Morris Traveller. But nothing like so grand as yours! Very lovely car.

On behalf of the team, thanks for taking part in ABC Wednesday this week! :)

I always LOVED woodies. I think we had one when I was young. Classy.
