Open House at the Lighthouse

Pt. Vicente Lighthouse holds open house on the 2nd Saturday of the month and the event is worked by the US Navy Sea Cadets. Only the lighthouse and the grounds right by it are open to the public as the location is the residence to US Coast Guard families. The previous photos of the lighthouse can be seen by clicking HERE.

I've had a long time fantasy of being in a lighthouse watching a big storm coming in. I love lighthouses. That is a really nice picture. The trees and shadow add a nice touch.

I agree with James, about the nice picture part, but not sure about the storm part. :-) It works well with the branches and it has a lovely composition.

Hi Tash...I remember this lighthouse. It is quite striking. I'm assuming one can walk to the top?

Thanks for your kind words re: Ocala DP! They were much appreciated!

This is an exceptional bw photo. I too find lighthouses romantic, and wouldn't mind living in one for a while.

Beautiful choice to post in b&w. Love lighthouses and their history. Not to mention they're very photogenic.

Some photos were meant to be in black and white, this is definitely one of them. The gnarled, branches of the tree would not be the same in color and the tall cylindrical tower of a lighthouse would lose that aura of time and nostalgia that is conveyed in classic black and white.

I used to love visiting lighthouses - I could manage the steps in those days - now all the UK LHs are fully automatic.
