View of Torrance from Palos Verdes

We took a walk with Amy, our dog, last Sunday afternoon from Ernie Howlett park, up the hill overlooking Torrance to the old tower gatehouse that was once a main entrance to Palos Verdes. More photos from the hike to follow.
The main artery seen in the photo cutting through Torrance, as it does through Palos Verdes, is Hawthorne Blvd. To the right is the western end of Torrance Municipal Airport, Torrance Memorial Hospital, and (if you click on the photo to enlarge) a shopping center with Best Buy that my husband tells me was a Food Giant in the '50s and '60s.

Very interesting panorama...I've heard of Torrance since a young boy living in LA, but I don't think I've ever been there...

Nice shot!

What a nice view from way up here. Always good to get away and go for a long walk.

Y'know what I really like about this photo? The dried grass and sandy patches in the foreground. That and the fact that if I take few steps foward I will topple over the slope.

Really good image, Tash.

It's interesting to look at things from this perspective. But of course my favorite part of the photo is the brushy grass in the foreground! Great shot.

It goes on and on, as far as the eye can see!

Macy's is trying to get in touch. They say you're now cool enough and there's an opening in the teen clothing department.

You sure have a lot of nice hikes around there. I'd love to go for one with you and Amy if I lived closer!

From this angle Torrance looks better than the Palos Verdes. You're a magician with your camera, nT!

Love the country/city contrast here. Used to know some people in Torrance, and many a time cruised down Hawthorne Boulevard.

Right, give up the aero space position for a sales job at Macys. Me I was looking down the barrel of a greeter position at Wall M. Thank god for Sekhmet

When I see a view such as this I realize that grid is stretching it's way over to me. It's as if we could yodel back and forth to one another

I remember Mom driving us down the winding road - which we called the 'Alice in wonderland road' - to get to the Food Giant the closest store in those days(1957-8)and that tower, so mysterious and cool.

I was born in Torrance. I really like the way you included the path dropping off with the city below.
