Steely Sunset (SkyWatch & Weekend Reflection)

Photo by I., my son, from Haggerty's surf spot lookout in Palos Verdes Estates, 23 June 2010
It's overexposed, underexposed, does not consider the rule of thirds, has no leading lines...and works quite nicely for me.

It works great for me, that's for sure! What a terrific capture! Your son is a wonderful photographer with a great eye! Hope you both have a terrific weekend, Tash!

Yes, your son has definitely caught the mood of the moment and the spirit of the place with this.

I love photos that break all the "rules"-- mostly because I don't know half the rules anyway! I like this photo, especially with the sunrays. With all the shades of grey, it looks like somewhere around here.

On another note, I'm glad to hear the photo "news" site or whatever it was has bit the dust. I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish, but I guess it's a good thing I can't get inside the mind of dishonest people.

Happy Skywatch Friday!

Abandoning the rules can work sometimes - like here.

Amazing to have that intense light and still retain the rays and the softness of the clouds. Just a wonderful image, rules or not.

To heck with the rules. Very inspirational shot.

Who needs rules when you have perfection?

Funny description on your part. I might have to enlarge this photo to discover your son....oh I get it, he's behind the camera giving his mom a bit of competition.

btw: Mr V got a last minute call this morning to join our favorite local librarian at the Music Center to see the Wagner Rings opera. The curtain rises in 20 minutes
