Riders of the Howlett Trail
The girl in the lead was just darling. She tried to calm a very concerned Amy, our dog, who was pulled a few feet off the path. The path leads up to Ernie Howlett Park.
Wait.... I think I spotted Dale Evans!!! What a great shot Tash. I couldn't possibly take a photo and ride a horse at the same time. I need both hands for my death grip on the reins. V
Ooh, horseback riding! I've wanted to take lessons and really learn how to ride since forever. Now I'm too afraid of falling off and getting head trauma. One more example of why it's hell getting old. Wonderful scene.
I think Amy would love to play with all beautiful horses there!Cool picture! :) *** oh girl, thanks so much for all precious hints, we just arrived from our trip and it was wonderful!I will write you soon! hugs Léia
What a lovely trail it is, too. This was my favorite thing to do on weekends growing up, but the stables we patronized usually only allowed riding along those paved things that pass for "rivers" down there :-). . .not much fun except that we were on our beloved horses. -Kim
@ altadenahiker: My dad gave my grandma a french poodle so she would have company at the house when she and grandpa moved to a cattle ranch where he would be away tending the cattle all day. Well, it wasn't long before grandpa trained the dog to go out with him to work most days! The dog loved it. I'll never forget seeing this poodle (which grandma kept groomed in the traditional poodle hair cut) slung over the withers in front of the saddle horn, limp as a dishrag and sound asleep after a long day of running on the ranch. He loved horses. -Kim

This looks like fun. Are you able to rent these horses or are these horse owners out for a ride?
Beautiful photograph.
I see everyone enjoying the ride.
Costas.
I always thought it was so cool to have all the trails around PV. I would have loved to live there with a horse. - Margy
This looks like such a great way to spend a day!

You live in such a pretty, pretty place. (My dogs don't like horses either. They most particularly don't like my horse.)

Looks like a lovely day. I cannot believe how tall the yellow wildflowers are this time of year!
Hiker,
Maybe the dogs have seen you hit the trail on yo head once too many times!
