Urban Peacock - Good or Foul?

Many areas of PV and San Pedro are home to protected peafowl. They are gorgeous birds but very messy and noisy, so they are not very favored by the other biped residents.

These are beautiful birds, for sure. We have a number of them in Florida in various entertainment venues. But you are right - they are messy and noisy!

Nice photos, but I especially like the second one where it appears the bird has lost its head.

Beautiful to look at. Hard on the ears, though.

Just like a man, huh?

They're good -- all good. We have a few that wander Altadena. I love their call, it's so mournful YALLLLUP

Those are great pictures. We have some here too, but mostly in wooded areas. They are loud! I love looking at them though. They are beautiful birds.

it is hard not to always be fascinated by the lovely peacock. a gorgeous bird that fortunately society did not cause to become extinct

They do have a piercing cry. I haven't see or heard one in years. Must be they like the warm sunny weather much better than our cold, rainy fare. - Margy

I guess we were both bird brains today. We had peacocks in Arcadia. As noisy as they are, they are prettier than the wild turkeys roaming these parts.

Gorgeous! I've never managed to get a peacock to pose for me like that. Good going!

We got one over on our hill too. We, well most of us, all love her. It is actually a peahen so no beautiful colors but still amazing creatures. Cool pics!

Good. What would Art Nouveau be without them

Beautiful birds, but they do yelp. I believe they were used in Turkey, if not elsewhere, as guard 'birds' because they kicked up such a ruckus.

The farmers around where I grew up had Guinea Hens and Peacocks for watch dogs. And they were both very noisy when anybody came up the driveway to the barnyards.

I started a new blog just for our flowers

Beautiful bird , i'd like to see them in town!

The bird of the second photo must be confused. It sees its proper image in the car and imagines that it is another one… I always agreed to the phrase “brain of bird”…

But I never imagined that these so great birds could coexist in urban areas!

But those are beautiful birds. Good shot to!

It's such a sad, man made problem. I feel sorry for them, but I think they're gorgeous.
