OK, it may sound exaggerated, but this image moved me deeply. The hooded boy with his concentration and chubby hands, Gap track suit and big shoes reminds me so much of my 4 year-old son. The patient hands of the man before him, a soothing image of fatherhood: something my little boy has not been fortunate enough to experience (yet).
I am a single working mom and this image pulled strings on so many levels, Tash. But it gave me hope too. There's a daddy out there, just waiting to be handed a toy soldier. And the game will begin.
I love the emotion of the folded hands beside the child. Someone waiting, someone deep in thought. You've captured such an emotionally rich moment here.
Superb photo capturing the image of youthful imagination, a vignette of action figures in a land of make-believe. The hands of a patient father who knows all too well what it was like to be a lad playing in the realm of fantasy. One can not see the father, yet I can almost hear his thoughts; "Play my son while you're still a boy, for all too soon you will be a man with little time for fantasies and make believe."
I love Eleonora's comment. I too, am a single mother and this picture makes me so happy because you captured something that happened in a split second and can remember it always. I hve a 3 yr old son and I love when I capture precious moments like this.
The composition is spot on, Tash.The straight back of the child and the leaning over of the lilly fronds. Both enclosing the hands. The hooded head contributes so much to the satisfaction of this image. Maybe that we cannot be sure if the child be male or female.
