If not Reggie, then who?

This post requires some work on your part - if you don't mind looking at reptiles, please click on the photo to enlarge and let me know what you think it is. When I took the photo, I thought it was a turtle, but it may be a snake.
Several people asked if the lake in yesterday's post was a home to an alligator a few years back - and yes, it was.

The True Story of Reggie
Reggie, the alligator, was first seen swimming in Machado Lake at Kenneth Malloy Memorial Park (or Harbor Park) in August 2005. He eluded elaborate efforts to capture him and was sighted again in April 2007. In May 2007, Reggie stepped out on dry land and “a zoo employee, jumped on his back, threw a t-shirt over his head, and wrapped duct tape around his snout. He was seven feet long at the time of his capture.” Reggie was moved to Los Angeles Zoo, where in August 2007, he again briefly escaped from his cage.

I recall that shortly thereafter, Reggie escaped his new captors at the L.A. zoo. I hate to say it but that looks like a snake to me.

The story of Reggie is funny and fascinating. I think the 'thing' in the water is clearly a snake. Enlarging and enhancing a bit the image we can see the head and the scales.
Great catch anyway.

I think that is either a snake, or baby alligator!
