The ladybug is enjoying what I believe is a non-native plant at the Portuguese Bend Reserve, previously shown
here. When I helped out removing invasive plants from the Bolsa Chica Wetlands in Orange Co. last year, I became more aware of how the non-natives can push out the native. Here is a good brochure offering native landscaping options -
Cal-IPC: LANDSCAPING-So Cal
Here is a beauty in orange that is fully contained next to the post office.

come on, that's not a real ladybug, is it?
I do like your ladybug photo. The light would have been a challenge but your focusing brings out her shape and colours just brilliantly.
I adore ladybugs, they are so cute and so good for the garden. Know what you mean about invasive plants, in Florida we have more than our share. I'm in a battle with the incredibly prolific Brazilian Pepper tree, it is trying to take over our property and seems to be winning !
Oh what a fantastic macro! We call them ladybirds on this side of the Pond.
What a perfect picture! It is so good and such lucky thing to find!Congratulations Tash! I loved this post!
Many thanks!

two stunnigly good photos! I like the little ladybug (ladybird over here!)
Not to diminish the second one, but the first image is awesome! Great macro, excellent colors.
I love ladybugs! Great shot of this little guy here....interesting colors on his/her head with the black and white. It's so clear. And the orange flower is striking!
Here a ladybug is called 'buba mara,' and I love to find them. The orange flowers are beautiful; almost look like a painting.
They both could almost be orange. Don't lady bugs sometimes look more orangey than red?
Nice palette of colors.
Good for you on the wetlands upkeep. I've visited those wetlands also. Funny, I went to the site for native verses non native species. I had pulled my Pampus grass out but discovered my witches broom was on the invasive list. I'm surprised
Love the colors here! Funny, I chose the same theme for this challenge.
Gorgeous flowers :)
The two things challenge is a fun idea! Love those orange flowers, and you got a wonderful close up of the ladybug!

Beautiful images. Portuguese Bend Reserve looks like a great place to explore.
Both nice shots! I'd love to plant native plants in the future garden of my future house!
