'P' is for Parasols (abc Wednesday)

On the grounds of The Getty Center in West LA. It's very hot here which is actually not unusual for this time of year. I remember playing hookie from classes during my first year of college, and going to Santa Monica beach for a day on Nov. 8th, 1976.

You must have kept a diary.

If you look closely at the surface stone you can find tiny weeny dinosaur bones.

Parasols for summer, umbrellas for winter... is there a difference?

I like your Parasol picture.

Beautiful sunny day there, a great idea about those parasols, and I also love the intense green!

Ha! You even remember the exact date and year you played hooky!

I like parasols, but never really used one. Like to SEE people using them!

BTW, have you seen Ferris Beuller's Day Off? One of my favorites!

Indian Summer in November, there are a lot of northerners who'd give a pretty penny for that luxury.

Guess I never stopped to think about it but a parasol for the sun makes perfect sense. In Spanish paraguas (meaning for water) is an umbrella ... so para sol (for sun) how natural. Can't imagine why I never saw the correlation before, must have had my eyes close. LOL
