Just answering your question about “Le Nozze di Figaro”:
The Italian for birthmark is “voglia” which means also desire, craving, with the obvious implications...
In the case of Figaro this is the plot device to reconcile him with his long lost parents.
The shape of the birthmark in this case would be decisive and probably this one was really spatula-shaped.
Domingo is an accomplished conductor and I'm sure you saw something very good. I love opera, so I'd be delighted if you ever need to know anything more.
