ELIZABETH GARRISON & VICTOR HENDERSON have been collaborating on public art projects since the late 1980s. They have completed commissions together for Metrolink, the Community Redevelopment Agency, Santa Fe Springs Arts Council, City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and many local municipalities. Their work is characterized by vivid imagery that often reflects historical aspects of the community in which they work.
Garrison is a third generation Californian; she studied art at Pasadena City College and received her BFA from CSU-Long Beach and her MFA from CSU-Los Angeles where she trained as a painter. Garrison took up creamics in 2007, which has added a new dimension to her public art work. Henderson was born in Ohio and raised in Pasadena, CA; he studied art at Pasadena City College and received his BFA from San Francisco State. Henderson was co-founder of the Los Angeles-based mural collective, LA Fine Art Squad during the late 60's and early 70's.
A very small sample of their other work:
Lions of El Monte, 1996
Metro Art

Stephen Sorensen Park in Lake Los Angeles, upcoming
LA County Arts - 5th District

Beautiful shot, and beautiful mural.
How's it going on the PR work for these two? There has to be a way to get Facebook and Twitter involved...
I love the new dark background, btw.
Stunning mural!
A great piece of art!

Wow, it's stunning !
At last! No one could have done it better, Tash, you're a true friend. PA must be very, very, very pleased to have completed the work and to see it here on your blog. I think it's, well, words fail me. I'll just say, it's grand.
Tash is a doll. She came several times to the station while we were working on the site. She figured out the identity of "Horse With No Name" in the fire panel (when I had given up trying; Millard Sheets) Even brought me a box of chocolates. Yes, this has been in the works for a little whole and her documentation is much better then mine
Thanks Tash

I meant to say

It's really something, such vivid work by L & V! I'd have recognized it anywhere, having seen a sneak peek of bits of it. Great shot, too! Can't wait to see it in person.
