Jack appears every year at this time on a hill in the Conoco Phillips Petroleum Refinery (the old Union 76) complex just east and off the hill from PV in Wilmington. The folks at the refinery hand out goody bags every Halloween with ... Cracker Jack, of course. View coming down the hill from PV Drive North.

Oh, this is just too fun! Is he painted every year or....?
I think you have found something that should be a trend everywhere, all year. What a much more attractive oil tank than a normal, ugly oil tank. Why not do more of this, and not just for Halloween?
Greetings from Australia.
I really like this pumpkin - it made me laugh. How do they get him up there?
Cheers.

Nice to know they have a sense of humor. wonder how someone initially convinced the boss
Hi Tash, that is pretty cool. :)
Charlie Brown can't be far away!
Oh wow that is really cool!
If I arrived in Palos Verdes all unsuspecting and saw this I think I might drive off the road!
Wouldn't it be great if they left it up all year long? My neighbors haven't taken down their christmas lights yet so why not a year round pumpkin? Wilmington could use a tourist attraction
That's too funny! Very good catch!

That is wild!! Wow, what a paint job!
So, there really is a Great Pumpkin...
It's AWESOME! Who wouldn't want to be greeted by that?

wow , the biggest pumkin i ever seen !
Too funny!
Thanks for bringing back childhood memories. My grandfather used to work here and I remember him taking us there for Halloween when we were little. And, yes, they were giving Cracker Jack back then, too. So, they have been painting the tank like this for at least 45 years, or so.
I wonder how they do that!
One of the most original Pumpkin this year!!
I heard the traffic was terrible getting in there for the candy. Great job on the pic!
Hilarious! That is a lot of paint every year!
Im 34 and a life long local- I remember being LITTLE (3 or 4?) and my aunts and uncles and all their friends would load up in station wagons - we'd go thru 7 or 8 times, switching seat with every go-around so they wouldn't recognize us (or so we thought! lol) This year I'll be taking my 4 year old for the 1st time - SO EXCITED!

I'll be 43 this next month...... I can remember going to this back when i was super young, maybe 4 or 5 years old? It's awesome that they are still doing this every year. What a rad tradition.
