Last Evening of Indian Summer

I want to thank my friend L. for getting me out of the house for coffee at the Golden Cove Center yesterday evening...so I got to see this. It was warm, it was clear (the rarely seen Channel Islands and either Santa Barbara or the more distant San Nicolas islands were visable), and the photos come close but do not do justice to the real scene.

That is truly a Golden Cove. I love the rays captured in the last photo. We had our last of Indian Summer a few weeks back. We are into our wet winter phase now, but I shouldn't complain. It saved us from a record low water mark on the lake. - Margy

In SoCal, isn't it Indian Summer all year long? I too love how you captured the rays. But also the color transitions -- the green is amazing.

Sunsets over the ocean, doubt there could be a lovelier vista.

I had forgotten about California's Indian Summers, those fall days when the mornings held a crisp nip to them, sweaters were worn to school and to work, then doffed as the day warmed. Suddenly,as though by magic, cool winds turn to balmy breezes (some were rather gusty breezes, especially during Santa Ana conditions). Thermometers read summer time temps and everyone's looking for their light-wear clothes again but only for a week or so and then Mother Nature, having played her little joke, returns the cooler fall weather. Only in California this scenario can be played several times over as the weather flip flops back and forth, not quite sure what it wants to be, Summer ?...Fall?...Fall?...Summer? Well I can't say that it was ever dull. =D
