My mother-in-law was a little over a year old in the photo.
Oakland Beach is now called Rye Park Beach.
The Rye Park Bathing Pavilion is in the background and a bit of it can be seen in the old picture too.

Both photos are lovely, but the top one reminds me of a similar one I have of some of my relatives.
Posting the old photo you remind me to dig in some old box at my mother's. Nice beach, not so crowded.
If you are still in Rye for a while could you try to track a 'Livorno Cafe' at 92 Purchase Street, maybe taking a photo if it still exists?
I have a picture of my grandmother in a bathing suit that is nearly identical. This is such a sweet combination. Love the whole beach combo sand/sea and structure.

Oh wow these are fabulous Tash! It looks like they are taking good care of the old pavilion and it's always fun to see existing buildings in old pictures. I love those bathing suits! I have pictures of my grandmother wearing one of those suits.

Love the old photos...I've got a few of grandparents in bathing costumes like these, but on the Pacific coast rather than back East.
