Morning Light

We are having days with unusual weather - it's warm, with lots of clouds, and very clear. This morning at about 6:30, the mountains were outlined all around the basin, and the rising sun lit up the clouds with numerous virgas (rain that does not reach the ground) on the horizon.
The 2nd photo is from our back window on Monday morning - at about 5:45 am. My husband, who walks the dog every morning, alerted me to this one. The photo is with Canon Rebel Xsi (and out of focus on manual focus) - who would of thunk that clouds are not in focus at the exterme setting of the focus dial.

Those are both great shots Tash, but that first one is spectacular! It almost looks like a painting to me. Also thanks for teaching me a new word today (virgas):)

These are both beautiful photos, Tash, but the first one has that special "oomph" which I cannot really describe but know when I see it!

Well done.

Of course by late afternoon the clouds had been eclipsed by the fire near the Diablo canyon dump. I got some pretty good wee videos later on.

New Camera? is it a SLR?

Rain that doesn't reach the ground? That's a new one on me. It makes for a very beautiful shot against the mountains and the sunrise.
