550 Silver Spur Dr., August 2009
In looking for a photo with some color, I decided on these taken last summer of a business building on a breezy, early evening. Other views of the same structure can be seen B&W, and sepia.Looking up at 550 Silver Spur, August 2009

The title just rang so true to me, and of course got me thinking of the Procol Harum song "A Whiter Shade of Pale", the lyrics of which I just looked up. And beside liking the title, and the lyrics using words like fandango, and the song being in The Commitments movie, I realized that I liked the song for the Hammond organ line was inspired by my most favorite of Bach's cantatas "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme". While I am on the subject of organ music, check out "Louis La Vache" SF Bay blog and Father Adam's Monastery Daily.

Thanks for reminding us! Your title 'take off' of the song is perfect. I can hear it in my head now!
I like the joke about the song title, it is really appropriate for these warm colors.
I always liked that song and that is a perfect title for this post. I saw Louis' post yesterday and will check out the other one you suggested. Thanks!
«Louis» thanks you for the visit and the referral to his blog! (Readers, the organ music Tash refers to is HERE.)
;-)
Beautiful photos-- soft and dreamy, and yes, warm! I will have to check out your Bach recommendation... I love "Whiter Shade of Pale" but have never listened to the words closely enough to catch that reference.
A beautiful color indeed! Nice capture.
Music or not music, your pictures are magnificent, the firs one could be a scenery of a Golden award movie!
Great post Tash
Léia
that is a wonderful title. Now I'll go back and listen to Bach
The song came immediately to my mind...but I thought of the Willie Nelson version!
These are superb photos, Tash. What great colors. That's one thing nice about digital photography...you can get wonderful colors at night!
Great lighting and shadows. Now I have the Procol Harum song stuck in my head. :)
Hi Tash,
Thought I'd just drop by and say hi. Hi!
Hope you are keeping well, I'm good. I can't believe its almost a month since I stopped my blog. Anyway. Some of your recent photos are fantastic. I really like yesterdays b&w angles and the shot across Downtown LA from the hill is jsut amazing. The lights are just stunning. Keep up the good work!
marley :)
Wow, well shot.
Wonderful lighting.
Beautiful lighting....A Whiter Shade of Pale will always remind me of my first trip to Paris, when the song was popular.
