Let's get Geophysical ... in Long Beach, CA
It was one of those "Say what?!?" signs near my work in L.B.
"The Survey will use state of the art technology to image and map the geological strata and potential earthquake faults of the Long Beach/Signal Hill area." from lbgeophysical.com
Never have seen a sign like that...you'd really need to stop the car and look more closely to try to figure out what it was all about...sounds like this survey is a very good idea.
I was in one earthquake in the San Bernadino mountains when I was a teenager...didn't like it one bit!
This is one of the strangest signs I have ever seen. It is so strange that I'd like translate it and put it out on the street to see how people will react. But probably they'll arrest me...
The strongest quake I remember was in Sylmar in 1971. It emptied the pool at our Long Beach home of about 3' of water. My parents told me stories about the 1933 Long Beach quake that took my dad's home right off the foundation. We get quakes up here in Coastal BC, but I haven't felt a strong one since moving here. Maybe that's not a good thing - tension building and all. - Margy
Oh my goodness, I live in Long Beach too and four or five years ago the city allowed a company to do 'seismic' testing in our neighborhood and apparently it felt like small earthquakes--we got it stopped the same morning and resulted in damages to some homes. I hope they aren't up to old tricks.

What?! Surely - -Delays Ahead' would have done!
I prefer the original idea.
Not only is it confusing but it kinda a small type face even for slow moving trucks
