Angling at Hot Creek by Mammoth Lakes

Flyfishing is about being at the right creek ...
casting just right (this one did result in a catch, and release, of a trout) ...and knowing how to tie knots - to secure the fly - to catch the fish!

I used to know how to tie knots in monofiliment line but have forgotten. My fishing gear is old and dusty and I suspect the line on the reels has taken a set that would give me a nightmare if I ever tried to cast it. Your landscape is really stunning. We have nothing to even compare here in SW Ohio. The fish who choose to live there in your streams are rainbow trout. Here we have fish like catfish, suckers, carp and sometimes a bass.

G'day from Australia. Beautiful countryside - Izaak Walton would have been delighted.

Definitely a beautiful place to go fishing. I have never been fly fishing, though, looks like fun :)

Beautiful spot. There's got to be a little leftover gold in that stream.

The first photo is breathtaking.

It is the exact opposite of NYC.
