Saturday Skies at Southern California Soaring Academy - Crystal Airport (SkyWatch Friday)

 Photo's from last Saturday.
One of the Academy's new 2-seater ASK-21 glider is being towed for a flight. My son flew two flights and got up to 14,000 feet during one of them -- a definite thrill.
Here is a view of both of the new ASK-21s.

Your first photo is terrific, Tash, with that dramatic sky, the strong glider profile and the small pair at the right side. And, congrats to your son for his soaring prowess.

Brilliant first shot Tash, the sky is fabulous, well done to your son, if only I wasn't such a chicken, I'd love to do that, it always looks so serene as they glide along up there.

the perfect kind of day to spend out in the desert. I love seeing the Joshua trees in the distance.

That must be quite an accomplishment to get to 14,000 feet. I haven't been higher than that in my powered plane. Do they have to take oxygen? - Margy

14,000 feet sounds quite amazing. I'm also interested to know if oxygen was required.
