Quilting for Vets

Many very talented & creative ladies met at Luella's Quilt Basket store in Redondo Beach for an afternoon of sewing & quilting with the Quilt Club.
This quilt was made by a special lady who is donating it for a veteran. Quilts for Valor in Long Beach, CA is another organization that provides many comforting quilts with the help of many volunteers.

Interesting to note that quilting bees take place in the BIG city. Who would of thought. I tried quilting. It falls under the category of "more love then money can buy"

This is a great idea. Pretty quilt too. One of our favorite stops at the MN State Fair is the Creative Arts building. Mrs. DL and I enjoy the quilt displays for competition.

You asked about my settings, whether I reduce the size for posting.

no, I shoot in RAW format on my DSLR and Super Fine and Large on my point and shoot camera. I shoot the largest pixel rating I can. Memory is relatively cheap. Except for the cost of a spare memory card, a 500 gig external hard drive, and a yearly subscription to flickr at a whopping $28.

I do bump up the Sharpening a bit on my Photoshop Elements 5.0 with the unsharpen comand. This gives the images that extra touch of sharpness. And it can be overdone.

I even bump up the saturation a touch for each separate color channel. Again, minimally, 12% at the maximum. Photoshop and Picasa are great post processing tools, but they also can really ruin an image when going too far with sharpening, saturation, and lightening.

When I upload to flickr, I upload the original size. The upload from Picasa or flickr will then resize to what Blogger wants. This way, in theory, my images are reduced in size once, not twice. But I'm just a hobbyist learning as I go.

Sorry, this became a long winded answer.

An appropriate post on the anniversary of 9/11.

"Louis" was appalled at how little mention of 9/11 there was in the so-called 'Main Stream Media' this year... ("Louis" will resist the strong temptation to go on a rant about the 'MSM'.)
