Prompted by Marie-Noyale's recent post of Route 66 Cafe on Larchmont Daily Photo, here is what the route looks like at its Western end, in the city of Santa Monica. THE Hotel CA is 300 feet away from the route's official end at the Santa Monica Pier (see -K-'s pier photo here). A bit further north, the ramp leads down to Pacific Coast Hwy and Santa Monica beaches.

Hmmm...is this the Hotel California that The Eagles sang about?
You are REALLY, REALLY luring me into revisiting the area of my high school days....this all looks sooooo familiar, and not too changed.
The start of Route 66 is on the south side of Chicago near a very old, greasy, fabulous restaurant. I should take a ride and snap a photo.....this is such a nice shot and your blues are so vivid.....
"Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely face"...
;)
Welcome indeed. The beach is gorgeous. Let's grab a lounge chair and go sit awhile. How lucky to live in such a gorgeous place. I love the beach so much!

I like visiting your site for many reasons, but among them: Your love for your city always shines through.

I'll have that song in my head all evening now!

You can check out, but you can never leave...
An amazing view...I will appreciate you the way you clicked the snap...
I grew up on Route 66 in Flagstaff, AZ. I'm hoping that in April I can take a road trip on most of 66 from East to West (at least the parts that are available to drive on). I can't wait!
