HOLLYWOOD

An un-glam look for sure, off the Hollywood 101 Freeway.
The Oscars are tonight and the only movie I've seen is The Fighter which I thought was excellent. So you know which one I'm pulling for to win.

An un-glam look, but an honest one.

I'm watching the Oscars myself. Hoping The King's Speech wins (it was wonderful), but so far other movies are getting more of the smaller awards. Stay tuned!

while Ann Hathaway changes out her Harry Winston jewels, you can find me installing my toilet. Something absurd about parallel universes.

I'm going with Winter Bones

Agree with Petrea. I love the Hollywood sign no matter what.

I have had the occasion of showing several visitors from South America around L.A. for a few days, and they beam with excitement when they get their first glimpse of Hollywood sign, which often is seen from a street scene such as this.

The glamors of the Oscar, it's very interesting! :)

I love this picture, it brings me so cool memories, thanks a lot!

It's true, isn't it? I've lived here more than 20 years, and whenever I see that sign I'm a tourist again.

It may be un-glam to you but it's exciting to me! I'd love to see that for real. And ohhh, Colin Firth in a tux...ohhh...

Know that sign....!! You got a good shot of it with the other details.

I've often wondered how lovely our cities and towns could be without all the clutter of electric lines. I suppose it would be impossible for every home and building to have its very own source of energy such as solar but if anyone ever did come up with a viable way of creating cheap, efficient energy for individual residences and businesses (doing away with the elaborate and complex power grid), I'd expect the power company moguls would kill it off in a heartbeat.

Oh well, guess it could be worse, like some places in India where it seems there are more electrical lines crisscrossing overhead than there are people on the streets beneath them. :)

Now that it's all over (and I didn't watch) I am pleased that The King's Speech won, but as Colin Firth said, it's a shame it has to be a competition when there are so many good films.
Your power lines have set me thinking. I'm sure we don't have overhead power lines in Scotland, at least at street level, but sitting inside just now I'm not sure. I will have to look out for this today!
