Black & White with Red

A snapshot from Forever 21 store at Del Amo Mall in Torrance (taken before a guard could tell me that no photography is allowed.)

My wife and I have encountered the same problem of being told by shopping mall security guards that photography is not allowed. Even taking photos of Camelback Mountain from the top level of a shopping center parking garage. I don't get what the problem is. They build what are public spaces with design elements to attract and please people, and then say no photos by those people are allowed.

I agree with Dave---what's the problem? Anyway, glad you were able to keep this photo.

I agree with both of you too! A few days later, I was at the same mall (the open air section) in the evening and they had strings of lights running from one side to the other and it looked really charming. I was quickly told that no photography is allowed. I did get one very fuzzy shot in.

What a perfect color combination, Tash! As I scrolled through the black/white portion I was anticipating the RED and "pop" there it was! I can understand "no photos" in a store where they are protective of their marketing layout but from a parking garage or an open area of a mall? Give me a break! If you can take photos in the Louvre, what is the problem here?

Thanks for visiting and leaving me a comment on my blog.

Genie

Why on earth not, one wonders? Over-inflated security egos, perhaps.

Seems like they should welcome the free publicity.

It's a marvelous photo. And of course I can't resist this bit of trivia....Forever 21 originated in Highland Park

No photography allowed ? Must have something to do with Homeland Security. Can't see any other reason to restrict the taking of pictures.
So many freedoms lost in the Land of the Free since 9/11/2001. :(
