In Avalon, Catalina Island

"Old Ben" sea lion, "residing" on the South Side of Avalon Bay, sculpted orignianlly in concrete in 1975 by Stanley Rosin, and which was then replaced in 1986 by this bronze statue made from Rosin's original mold by students at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert.

I remember four of us early teenage girls and one mother going to Catalina for a weekend stay. It made us feel so grown up. We got a room of our own (connected to the mother's room). We went out to eat in restaurants and flirted with the bus boys. So much fun! Thanks for the memory. - Margy
