My contribution to «Louis» of San Francisco Bay DP's Sunday Bridge Series.Heading north from Main St. on 1st Avenue, we crossed the bridge over the BNSF rail yards to reach the Harvey House (see yesterday's post).
I do recommend walking over the bridge to get to the old train depot. I'm hoping to start a "slow sightseeing" trend, sort of like the "slow food" - it especially works if stranded without a vehicle :).

When I met my husband he had a 55 chevy..almost the same color as that classic. Nice reflections.
I lost a brother..he passed away driving through Barstow in the 70's(I'm from W.Covina)
Just thinking back..have a great Sunday!
I hope that didn't sound morbid on your blog..(it was so long ago) sorry if it did..
I'm sure enjoying your tour of Barstow area.... Lot's of memories.
In fact I just connected with a friend from Oro Grande 40 years ago on facebook.
I love the bottom shot and if only the white suv wasn't in the top shot it could look so retro.
Great shadows in the black & white. I'm not a big fan of freeways, so I'd be right on board with your slow sightseeing movement. I do like cars, but more as works of art like the truck in the top photo.
That bottom image is so striking! Beautiful work.
And what a bridge !
«Louis» didn't have your link before leaving early Sunday moring and didn't have access to the computer all day to update his link list. He's got your contribution linked now.
He likes this old bridge - and the early '50s GMC truck on it!
I recently read that a couple of the iconic bridges crossing the LA river are to be rebuilt. The concrete they used has some chemical reaction that has the concrete breaking down
I'll try to find you the link
Just fantastic, you caught it at the perfect moment.
