An Afternoon in Manhattan Beach (4) - Striding and Smiling
This is from a set of photos I took on a Saturday afternoon last October. I thought the girl on the left had a lovely smile and I also liked the chic French woman with a purposeful stride with "le petit chien".

An Afternoon in Manhattan Beach (3) - FOCUS & Focused
FOCUS (self-explanatory) with an unfocused view of the beach looking south toward Palos Verdes
I watched the little girl for a bit and during that time she was totally focused on her task.

Redondo Pier (Monochrome Weekend & sort-of-Sunday Bridges)
A bit of a stretch for Sunday Bridges but the pier is a semi-circular type and connects the shore with the shore. Weekday afternoons (when this was taken) are not very busy but the weekends are. Wikipedia has a good historical perspective on this pier, which has been rebuilt many times due to storm and fire damage. My contribution to Aileni's Monochrome Weekend and to «Louis»'s Sunday Bridge Series.

Catching it at Cabrillo Beach Pier - San Pedro, CA
The shadows tell who has the goods.
Shovelnose guitarfish -Identification: the nose is long and pointed and the disk is longer than it is wide. The tail is long and thin. Color is sandy brown above, white below. (They also have the “most soulful, woebegone eyes you have ever seen.” quote from Probably More Than You Want To Know About The Fishes Of The Pacific Coast by the eminent marine biologist Dr. Robin Milton Love).Ref. www.pierfishing.com-shovelnose_guitarfish
And the sad story is that most of what is caught should not be eaten.
