Dam at Ballard Locks in Seattle (Monochrome Monday)

Seattle - May 5, 2010
"The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks located in Ballard provide a link for boats between the saltwater of the Puget Sound and the fresh water of the Ship Canal connecting to Lake Union and Lake Washington. The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks, often called the Ballard Locks, link salty Puget Sound with the fresh waters of Salmon Bay, Lake Union, Portage Bay and Lake Washington." (Ref.

Borrowing from Seattle for Sunday Bridge Series

Palos Verdes has many pretty sights but very few bridges. So I've scanned my archives for this aerial view of the Ballard Railway bridge in Seattle. Check out Chuck's wonderful photo and caption of the same bridge at Almost One a Day Seattle. I made a quick visit to the locks last week.

'P' is for Pretty People at the Public Library (abc Wednesday)

Snapshot of the RED floor, Seattle Central Library, 4 May 2010
I'm away again, this time for a really quick business trip to Seattle...but I did have a chance to see one of my favorite buildings - Seattle Central Library. The whole structure is visually interesting and well worth a visit.

Seattle at Night

I went up the Space Needle 2 evenings in a row, last Saturday & Sunday - and on the 2nd night enjoyed the sunset and the city changing from the sunset glow to the bright city lights. The 1st evening was very windy but the 2nd was calm and had so many people out, snapping pictures, having fun. Maybe some of you where there at the same time too...

Seattle from Above - Sky Watch Friday

View from a sight seeing flight with Kenmore Air Beaver floatplane. It's a very unusual experience to take-off and land on water - made me wonder if I'm on a boat or a plane.
Kenmore Air has an interesting history and a very successful operation flying in the less accessible parts of the Pacific Northwest. http://www.kenmoreair.com/

"Higher, Mom" in Seattle

View of the Pugent Sound from the 73th floor (Sky View) of Columbia Center Tower.

We came upon this adorable little girl on her mom's shoulders.

And she could see way, way down too.

Double Vision in Seattle

Space Needle, Seattle's famous landmark, is reflected in the adjacent building.
Having a wonderful time and good weather - a bit of rain, a bit of clouds, and lots of clear skies.
