The exhibit at the Huntington Library's Boone Gallery "showcases classic examples

The exhibit is extremely well done and Maloof pieces are very appealing.
The style has been popularized and mass-produced but those
pieces do not come close to the beauty of the handcrafted originals.

For you locals, the exhibit runs through tomorrow, so you can still rush out to see it.
Watercolors by Maloof and others, memorabilia, and even a painting by Millard Sheets is also on display.

LACMA one day and the Huntington Library the next day. You have featured two of our favorite places, back to back. Sometimes when we drive to Newport Beach in the summer we will leave Scottsdale very early so we can reach the Huntington in time for lunch, a walk through the gardens and museum, then on to Newport Beach. It makes the day seem like a vacation day rather than a travel day.
I love the table and the blue wall too!
Thanks for sharing!
Interesting exhibition.
Oh, I so love that table!! Shaker style, no?
It reminds me of Danish Modern. But handmade. Who could afford that these days? I think the woodwork is incredible and quite beautiful.
mr. bc particularly would love this exhibit.
Oh my hubby would drool over this exhibition Tash, he's a bit of a carpenter himself so he really appreciates hand made.
Oh, what a gorgeous chair. My neighbor met him about a year before he died. I'll tell you about it next time we meet.
That table looks like a dream.
Hmmmm...wonder if our tax guy is related...Maloof is an unusual name!!!
Beautiful craftsmanship!
Glad you did a close up of the grain pattern on the chair. I loved the chair you were allowed to sit in. It was made from birds eye maple. I have a piece of furniture (very impractical) but birds eye. It's a beautiful wood.
My dad loved to work with wood. He made us some very nice furniture pieces, but nothing as special as these. - Margy
That chair is gorgeous.
