Saturday Skies at Southern California Soaring Academy - Crystal Airport (SkyWatch Friday)
Photo's from last Saturday.
One of the Academy's new 2-seater ASK-21 glider is being towed for a flight. My son flew two flights and got up to 14,000 feet during one of them -- a definite thrill.
Your first photo is terrific, Tash, with that dramatic sky, the strong glider profile and the small pair at the right side. And, congrats to your son for his soaring prowess.
Brilliant first shot Tash, the sky is fabulous, well done to your son, if only I wasn't such a chicken, I'd love to do that, it always looks so serene as they glide along up there.

Fantastic skywatch captures. Congrats to your son! Happy skywatching!
The sky is amazing!
Quite beautiful, Tash. Almost makes me want to go up....but not quite! ;)
That top one -- it's just so clean.
that first shot is just awesome! my husband has done this before, he loved it! i'm too chicken!
the perfect kind of day to spend out in the desert. I love seeing the Joshua trees in the distance.
Ditto, ditto, and ditto!!! Great shot! And I admire your courage watching your son in the wild blue yonder!!!
That must be quite an accomplishment to get to 14,000 feet. I haven't been higher than that in my powered plane. Do they have to take oxygen? - Margy
Wow, I'm still amazed on your place, this is a great destination too.

14,000 feet sounds quite amazing. I'm also interested to know if oxygen was required.
Cool!!
