More Poppies Please - Lancaster, Antelope Valley, LA County
We've had a cold and rainy winter, and the California Poppy Reserve has only splashes of orange, since poppies need more warmth to bloom. Must come back in a week or two.
Wow! My second post ever on my first blog was of the Lancaster poppy fields... http://thechieftess.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html...big difference!
There is nothing more lovely than California during the California Poppy blooming season. What a magnificent golden carpet she spreads across her valleys and hillsides. Sometimes, if one is lucky, the lupine will be blooming alongside and the contrast of the two is breathtaking. I do hope you manage to return and capture the valley in all its golden glory.

Tash, where is this reserve. I would love to see it when all the poppies are in bloom.
Hope you have a very good week!

That's one flower I really miss up here in the Pacific Northwest. We have lots of lupine, but no poppies, at least the California kind. - Margy
Tash, this is a spectacular shot, poppies or no.
Beautiful view from the benches there!
Léia ;)
I agree with Petrea, its a great panorama even without the popies.
