What a Hoot at Devil's Punchbowl - North Los Angeles County

The owls are rescues 'hoo' reside at the Devil's Punchbowl County Park. The owl in the 1st photo can be seen in the background of the 2nd.

"Devil's Punchbowl, elevation 4,750', is one of the most fantastic, colorful jumble of rocks in Los Angeles County. It is a county park within the Angeles National Forest on the northern slopes of the San Gabriel Mountains. There are short trails within the park which showcase the riot of geologic features along the Punchbowl and San Andreas Faults and there are connections to the major longer trails going up to the high country." (Ref. tchester.org-Devils Punchbowl and Devil's Punchbowl).

These owls do look like sleepy creatures there. At such elevation, I am surprised that they can find any food at all!

Great shots! I love owls. These guys look like they are taking a siesta.

Every so often one will float by as I walk the dogs late at night. What a wingspan! And their hoo-hoo makes me sleepy after midnight.

Owls are so much fun to look at, the ones at our wildlife rescue center are beautiful. I think there might be an one living in my ligustrum, I hear it fly out if I walk by at night. I want to investigate but don't want to scare it off for good.
Congratulations on being mentioned in your local paper. You do live in a beautiful place, Tash, and I love seeing your photographs.

I also send kudos to you on the Daily Breeze mention. How very cool and well deserved. Hoot Hoot.

They're such mysterious creatures and very hard to see in the daylight. We found a baby one that had been abandoned and took it to the vet.

Very beautiful photo of strange creatures. Birds rarely have "facial expressions". These owls surely do.
