Mustard hills...

... Palos Verdes Dr. South in the Portugese Bend area, where the hill is slowly sliding toward the ocean. The yellow plants are a variety of mustard plant, that give color to the So. Cal. coast in early spring.

Reflected Sky ... Watch Friday

A beautiful BT-13 Valiant (basic trainer of 1939 vintage) at Torrance Municipal Airport or Zamperini Field (of the same vintage at the BT). Torrance is just north and down the hill from Palos Verdes.

Riderz

A group of Kamikaze Riderz pulled up beside me and then noisily sped away. I snapped this quickly so it's pretty fuzzy. The view is looking West on Palos Verdes Drive North ...yes, East, West & South drives also exist.

ABC Wednesday: "S" is for ...

"S" is for spectacular sunsets.

This one was taken last Monday from Hesse Park, also on Hawthorne Blvd. in Rancho Palos Verdes. We were driving past the park on the way back from dinner and lucked out to see this.

Point Vicente

Point Vicente lighthouse is located at the most southwest corner of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, along Palos Verdes Drive West. It's probably the most photographed spot in PV. In the background, 26 miles away, is Catalina Island.

Rooftops from Above

In the center are the same Ridgegate townhome rooftops as posted yesterday ... but this time from a Cessna 172. The photo was taken last Sunday, with my son at the controls as a student pilot (with his instructor, of course) while I enjoyed the sights from the back. A great afternoon for a flight in the LA basin. Not much air traffic, maybe due to the heat, or maybe to the rising cost of fuel.

Flat roofs, South Bay & LA

The flat rooftops are Ridgegate Townhomes, with the view of the South Bay, and in the distance are downtown L.A., tall buildings along Wilshire Blvd, and Century City/Westwood
